Health & Welfare

Sanger Unified School District offers a comprehensive health and welfare package to all certificated employees who are contracted for at least 53% FTE or more. The health and welfare benefits include coverage for spouses and dependents up to age 26 at no additional charge. The District contributes $16,806 annually towards each qualified certificated employee’s health benefits for the 100% plan and the 80% plan. The District contributes $16,475 annually towards each qualified certificated employee’s health benefits for the HSA plan (Bronze plan). Employees pay from $80 to $540 monthly depending on individual choices, which are deducted from their monthly paycheck. Medical insurance is provided through Anthem Blue Cross and includes prescription drug coverage and an employee assistance program. Also included with the Medical insurance is dental insurance through Delta Dental and vision insurance through Vision Service Plan (VSP). A Group Life Insurance policy is included in the package, but only for the employee. Please refer to the Benefits section of the CBA for the most current information.

Additional Benefits

Certificated employees are members of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System, or CalSTRS, which provides retirement programs and services dedicated to protecting the financial security of members including retirement benefits, survivor and disability benefits.
