The SUSD Maintenance and Operations Department strives to perform the diverse task in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner. Our mission is to provide a safe, clean, healthy and positive environment for students to achieve their potential. SUSDM&O strives to provide prompt, efficient and courteous service to the district.

The M&O department oversees the cleaning and maintenance of 21 schools, including 1 high school, 1 middle school, 14 elementary schools, and 4 preschools. These sites range in age from brand new to over 100 years old. Together these sites have over 900,000 square feet of roofed space. The sites encompass approximately 210 acres of property that must be maintained.
The major functional areas that are the responsibility of SUSDM&O include:
- Cleaning of Buildings
- Crafts: cabinet makers, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, grounds, locksmith, masons, painters, plumbing, and heavy equipment operators
- Elevator/lift services
- Energy management
- Environmental services (air quality, asbestos, and pest control)
- Fire Suppression equipment
- Grounds upkeep
- Athletic field maintenance and service
- Maintaining equipment and facilities
- Maintenance of our equipment and facilities
